Picture 1
Lay the box on a flat surface with the lid of the box facing up and carefully remove the lid. (Be careful of the staples as they are sharp).
Remove the mounting rails and the clamp bag from the box.
Picture 2
Remove the plastic sleeve from the mounting rail then remove the paper backing from the mounting tape on the rails.
Picture 3
Set the mounting rails on the top of the bed rails of the truck with the closed side to the outside of the bed. Loosely install 2 clamps on each rail. Place the clamps as far to the front and rear of the rail as possible. Make sure the nose of the clamp locks into the open channel of the rail. If the kit has spacer blocks, place one under the pad of the clamp under the bed rail. On Toyota models replace the bolts in the clamps with the longer bolts supplied.
Picture 4
Set the plastic end cap of the rail 2.5" back from the front of the bed. (3.5" on HT 3010/20, 2.75" on HT 4040 and 2.25" on HT 2060)
Picture 5
On the chart provided with your install kit, find the correct model of the Hardtop you are installing and set the front and rear of the rail in from the inside of the bed rail the distance specified. (Negative numbers mean the rail hangs OVER the inside of the bed rail that distance) Tighten the 2 clamps so the rail is held securely in place.
Picture 6
Measure the cross corner distance of the rails to ensure that you have them square on the bed. If not, reposition the rails so they are square to themselves.
Picture 7
Check the lid to see that the tape holding the 4 prop rods into the channel of the lid is in place and is holding the rods securely. Carefully lift and turn the lid over placing it on sawhorses or other suitable supports.
Picture 8
Remove the tape.
Picture 9
Gently let the rods hang down. (If you let the rods flop down, the ends will break off)
Picture 10
Lift the lid over the truck bed and lower the lid down to the rails placing the ends of the torsion rods into the open end of the prop rods. Make sure the torsion rod goes all the way into the hollow prop rod that is on the cover.
Picture 11
As you lower the lid, make sure the prop rods slide along the channel of the end frame as the lid lowers.
Picture 12
Set the lid down completely onto the mounting rails. Lock all 4 locks on the lid. Check both sides to make sure the lid is flush with the rails. If it isn't, see your installation instructions to trouble shoot. When the lid is aligned properly on the rails, all 4 locks will engage with minimum pressure.
NOTE: If the locks do not engage with minimum pressure, the lid is not in correct alignment with the rail. Either one of the rails is too far forward or back or one of the rails is too far in or out on the truck bed. Open the lid on the side that is misaligned, loosen the clamps and reposition the rail.
Picture 13
Place a die cut gasket under the torsion spring rod on both ends of the rail. (4 corners) Line up the edge of the gasket with the frame rail. The fit is very tight so try and not press the gasket down until after it is in place.
Picture 14
Connect the tether straps so that there is about 1" slack.
Picture 15
When you are satisfied with the fit and operation of the Tonneau, install 2 more clamps on each side so that the clamps are spaced evenly along the bed rail. Tighten the clamps.
